These are all text files and most print best on landscape. 2007When we have info on the 2007 race, we will post it here. Below you'll find info on the 2006 race, which took place on June 3, 2006. We are very thankful to our all sponsors, volunteers and athletes. 2006TuscaloosaTriathletes invites you to join us for the United Cerebral Palsy LIFE WITHOUT LIMITS Triathlon which will take place on June 3rd, 2006 at Lake Lurleen State Park, just minutes west of Tuscaloosa, Alabama! This race is USAT sanctioned! Info SummaryA one page summary sheet with the main details about the triathlon is also available here (pdf). RegistrationREGISTER NOW! Race is limited to 300 participants. Online registration is available at active.com. A downloadable mail-in registration form will also be available here shortly. On-line registration is encouraged and is cheaper! If you must register by mail, download either the individual entry form (pdf) or relay entry form. On-line registration is encouraged! Pre-Race Dinner: The night before the triathlon, during packet-pickup, a buffet supper will be provided by Ken's Downtown Grill. The cost is $6 per person, payable with your registration. Dinners may be purchased for your whole group, not just the competitors. Ken's is right beside VeloCity Pro Cycle, the location of packet pickup. Park Entrance Fee: On race day, everyone entering the park must pay the park's daily use fee of $3 per person ages 12 - 61 ($1 for children 6-11 and Seniors 62 and up; children under 6 are free. This includes competitors, spectators, everyone). Bring cash! This fee includes park entrance, picnicking, fishing, boat launching and swimming. A State fishing license is required for fishing and is available for purchase at the park. CourseThe course includes a 1K swim in beautiful Lake Lurleen, a 25K bike on neighorhood roads near the park, and a 5K run inside the park grounds. A coursemap is available in pdf format. USAT sanctioned. United Cerebral PalsyProceeds from the Life Without LimitsTriathlon benefit United Cerebral Palsy of West Alabama. UCPWA serves children and adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities throughout West Alabama through a full array of services and resources. As one of the largest health charities in America, the mission of United Cerebral Palsy is to advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with disabilities through an affiliate network. presentation will be provided by: Packet PickupPacket pickup will be at VeloCity Pro Cycle in Timerson Square behind AmSouth in downtown Tuscaloosa on Friday, June 2, from noon to 7 p.m. The pre-race supper ($6 per person prepaid when you register) will be next door at Ken's Downtown Grill (a yummy buffet!). Race Day will include a fun awards ceremony after the last finisher crosses the finish line. Linda Kees Massage Therapy will have a couple of massage chairs available day of race. Wonderful post-race food will be served! Awards PartyPrize Purse.The first place overall male, overall female, masters male and masters female will receive $300. Second place is $200. Third place is $100. Post-Race Party: Race Day will include a fun awards ceremony after the last finisher crosses the finish line. Tuscaloosa Convention and Tourism Bureau will provide prizes for first place finishers. ALL FINISHERS will receive blue LIFE WITHOUT LIMITS wristbands. Lake Lurleen State ParkLake Lurleen State Park is named after Alabamas only female governor. Lurleen Wallace, the wife of former Governor George C. Wallace, was native of Tuscaloosa County. As governor she was instrumental in funding a major renovation project of Alabama State Parks.
Lake Lurleen State Park is located 9 miles Northwest of the cities of Tuscaloosa and Northport, Alabama and is 14 miles from the campus of the University of Alabama, Home of the Crimson Tide. From Birmingham, take an easy hour's drive down I-59/20. On race day, everyone entering the park must pay the park's daily use fee of $3 per person ages 12 - 61 ($1 for children 6-11 and Seniors 62 and up; children under 6 are free. 1,625-acre park is a scenic lakeside retreat set on the banks of a 250-acre lake. The park facilities include a modern campground, camp store, activity building, picnic area, play area, pavilions, beach with bathhouse, fishing piers, boat rentals and boat-launch areas. Camping reservations may be made by telephone to Lake Lurleen State Park 205-339-1558, or through the Central Reservation Center 1-800-ALA-PARK. Collect calls to the park will not be accepted. Reservations are taken between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information on camping, click here. AccomodationsFor those not making camping reservations, local hotels are within a short drive in Northport and Tuscaloosa. The Tuscaloosa Convention and Tourism Bureau provides information on hotels on its accommodation page. The nearest hotels are Econolodge (Northport) and Best Western (Northport) but many others are almost as close.
